Usually a thin layer of plaster is administered, and spread in a manner so as to create patterns in the plaster. This pattern often covers a large surface area to great effect. Artexing is often used on ceilings, but can also be applied to walls at the customers specification.
Usually the Painter & Decorator will prepare the ceiling or wall which they will apply the artexing; this includes removing the old plaster, paint or wallpaper from the surface. The areas around the artexing will be covered by protective sheeting to prevent any damage to your floors or furniture. After the effect is applied, the Painter & Decorator will clean up the materials they have used and remove protective sheeting (dust sheets).
